Music theory, arrangements and orchestration
Music theory is the study of the practices and possibilities of music. Simon covers two areas in this respect:
- The first being the rudiments that are needed to understand music notation (key signatures, time signatures, melody, harmony and rhythmic notation)
- The other important area is learning about musical styles from Bach to the present day
This is the foundation from which musical arrangements and orchestration lessons are built on – how melody and harmony works and the correct way to write for each instrument in any given style.
